Pitching Clinics
CompletePitch organizes and instructs pitching lessons for leagues, teams, and even small groups. The difference between the pitching lessons and a clinic is that we will come to your facility for the instruction. When you call, we will discuss the number of pitchers, the length of the drive to your facility, the dates, and the expectations and skill level of the pitchers. Based on the information given, we will determine the schedule of the clinic and price.
Generally, we like to begin the lesson with the instructor(s) pitching to a catcher in their full motion. At this time, we will discuss the mechanics of a fastball from foot placement on the mound all the way to the release and follow through of the pitch. Additionally, we will discuss how to trouble-shoot the pitch in order to make adjustments in practices and games. Afterwards, the pitchers will be broken up into groups, and will begin working on their pitching motion with the instructors. For more advanced players who already have the basic mechanics, the instructors will work on different change-up grips, rotations, off-speed pitches, as well as movement pitches (such as the drop and rise ball).
When players leave the clinic, they will leave with the knowledge of the pitching mechanics and an understanding of why the ball goes where it goes when released. Additionally, each pitcher will be aware of the work ethic it takes to BECOME a pitcher and that muscle memory is vital to the success of a pitcher. In other words, CompletePitch will not make a pitcher out of the player in one day, however, they will give them the tools they need in order to achieve their complete potential as a pitcher.
All-Skills Clinics
Our all-skills clinic is essential for all players. For defense, we teach the basic fielding and throwing skills, outfield play, infield positional play, footwork, and defensive situations. On the offensive end, we address in great detail base-running, bunting, hitting, and slap hitting. We like to introduce the skill, drill it, and then play challenging games to keep the players interest and focus.
Details
CompletePitch’s clinics offer an enormous value to the players, parents, coaches, and leagues. The clinics allow players to enhance their skills without having to drive far or pay a lot of money for the instruction that is given.
When we direct a clinic, we like to make a day of it in order to give the players the most instruction for their money. Normally, we like to begin with a two hour coach’s clinic in the morning, break for an hour lunch, then congregate back with the coaches to begin the player’s clinic. During the player’s clinic, coaches will use the knowledge they learned from the coach’s clinic to aid the CompletePitch instructors with the training. This is an excellent approach, because it is the coaches and parents who spend the majority of the time working with the players, so they need to understand (and be able to teach) the skills as well. The player’s clinic generally will last three to four hours and will have a fifteen minute break in the middle in order for the students to grab a snack and refuel for the next segment.
Costs
CompletePitch provides valuable instruction at a reasonable price, and has a good player to instructor ratio. The cost is determined on an individual basis depending on many factors that will be discussed with you. Some leagues and teams do fundraisers to pay for the clinic and others charge each player a set fee to attend. The choice is up to you and your goals for the clinic.
